Mosaic Women’s Book Club: Upcoming Reads

The Mosaic Women’s Book Club is reading across a variety of genres in the months ahead, with everything from literary fiction and cozy mysteries to memoir and religious nonfiction.

Whether you read every book, join for just one month, or simply want to connect with other women through thoughtful conversation, you’re invited. Each gathering is a chance to talk about what stood out, hear different perspectives, and enjoy time together.

We meet at La Madeleine in Cypress.

October 10

Genre: Cozy Mystery
Book: The Yarn That Binds by Rebecca McKinnon

October brings a little small-town intrigue with The Yarn That Binds. With a yarn shop, quirky characters, friendship, and a mystery waiting to be unraveled, this is a fun introduction to the cozy mystery genre.

November 14

Genre: Historical Fiction
Book: The First Ladies by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray

Inspired by the friendship between Eleanor Roosevelt and Mary McLeod Bethune, The First Ladies explores the relationship between two women from very different backgrounds and the ways their friendship intersected with a changing America.

December 12

Genre: Religious Non-Fiction
Book: Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others by Barbara Brown Taylor

In December, we’ll explore questions of faith, curiosity, and religious difference through Holy Envy. Barbara Brown Taylor reflects on what she learned from encountering faith traditions beyond her own and what those experiences revealed about her own beliefs.

January 9

Genre: Memoir
Theme: Choose Your Own Memoir

January will look a little different. Instead of everyone reading the same book, choose any memoir that interests you and come ready to share a little about what you discovered.

Need a place to start? A few suggested options include:

  • Be Ready When the Luck Happens: A Memoir by Ina Garten
  • Dinner for Vampires: Life on a Cult TV Show (While Also in an Actual Cult!) by Bethany Joy Lenz
  • Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden

These are simply suggestions, so feel free to pick any memoir that catches your attention.

No matter which months you join us, there’s always room at the table. Read what you can, bring your questions and thoughts, and come enjoy the conversation.
