March 9: God Helps Us Know What’s True

Scripture: Matthew 13:1-23; Luke 9:28-36

This week, we’ll hear Jesus tell a story about a farmer planting seeds. Some seeds fall on hard paths, some on rocky ground, some among thorns, and some on good soil. The seeds that land in good soil grow big and strong! Jesus explained that just like seeds need good soil to grow, our hearts need to be ready to receive God’s truth so we can grow closer to Him.

Another time, Jesus took His disciples up a mountain, and something amazing happened—His face shined bright, and they saw Moses and Elijah with Him! This moment showed the disciples that Jesus was truly God’s Son, and they should listen to Him.

As a family, talk about ways you can be “good soil” this week. How can you listen to God’s truth and let it grow in your hearts? Maybe it’s reading the Bible together, praying, or showing kindness to others. When we make space for God’s truth in our lives, He helps us grow strong in faith!

Preschool Questions:
Who told the story about the farmer planting seeds? (Jesus)
What happened to the seeds that fell on good soil? (They grew big and strong!)
When God speaks to us, how can we listen and learn what is true? (By reading the Bible, praying, and learning about Jesus!)

Elementary Questions:
In the Parable of the Sower, what do the different types of soil represent? (Different ways people respond to God's truth.)
When Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, what did the disciples see? (Jesus shining bright and talking with Moses and Elijah.)
How can we grow in truth like the seed in good soil? (By listening to God's word, following Jesus, and letting His truth change our hearts.)
